Here at Biolife, we not only care about you and your health, but also we are very concerned about the wellbeing of your four legged companions. We just love pets! Having said that, we have decided to kick off this month with a post about healthy pets. This post is filled with general tips and a healthy checklist for keeping your K9 best friend in tiptop shape.
Body Condition
Every month you should be performing a regular body condition check on your dog to search for any abnormalities. Run your hands over your dog and you should be able to feel their ribs with only a thin layer of fat covering it. The belly of the dog should slope upwards from the chest creating an hourglass figure when viewed from a bird’s eye view.
Ears
Be sure to clean your dog’s ears regularly. They should be without any green waxy discharge, redness or itchiness. Also be aware if any foul odors are omitted from the ears. Long eared dogs benefit best from regular ear cleaning because more often then not things may get caught in them and hinder the dogs keenest sense.
Eyes
Take note of your dog’s eyes, if any runniness or redness appears your dog may very well be ill. Eyes should always be bright and clear, if any signs of light sensitivity occur be sure to take them to a vet for a proper exam.
Nose
Not all dogs have wet snouts; so don’t assume if they are dry and warm that your dog is sick. First, check for is any crusting or thick discharge coming out of the nose before rushing off to the vet just because you don’t have a wet noised dog.
Mouth
Be very conscious of your dogs breath, while it may be common knowledge that dogs have foul breaths, there may be an underlying cause, potentially a digestive or kidney problem. It is suggested that you regularly care for dog’s teeth, whether it be brushing them or providing them with dental treats to rid them of plaque and other bacterial growths that may cause tooth decay.
Checking the above-mentioned conditions regularly will not only keep you conscious of your dog’s wellbeing but also alert you of any serious issues that may suddenly arise. By keeping track of your dog’s health you can ensure a happy healthy life for you and your pal. For more tips like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. How to Prepare for Spring Weather
Spring is here at our New York BioLife offices; everyone has a skip in their step and a smile on their faces. With the temperatures approaching the 50’s (a number we haven’t seen in months) and we can’t help but embrace it with open arms. So with spring right around the corner, we want to help you ready yourself for the season. With the change of the season comes a change in our bodies and environment, so we compiled a list to help you thwart off any health concerns for the warmer months.
See a doctor
Prepare yourself for the allergy season and update your allergy medicine. We also recommend considering an allergy test to check for the most common allergies instead of finding out you are allergic the hard way.
Keep your windows and doors shut
Close your windows and doors because even though you love that fresh spring breeze, allergens seep through the mesh screen of windows and doors. While it is a bit pricier, consider running your A/C on low earlier on in the season to get a cool breeze running through your home.
Time your outdoors activities
Try to avoid spending time outdoors in the early morning because pollen counts tend to be higher in the morning. Also, be sure to take your antihistamines at least two hours before going out.
Prep your home for natural disasters
While we may think that the worst of it is over with snowstorms behind us, the chance of hurricanes and tornados in some parts of the country are still very possible so be sure to prepare your home for the potential of storms. Some ways to prepare are to turn off the electricity and propane to avoid a fire and board up your windows to prevent debris from breaking them.
Set up your garden
The most exciting thing to see in the spring is the blossoming of spring flowers, but be careful about how early you plant them because just one frosty night can ruin them for the rest of the season. Be sure to pick the right time to plant them and if frost does occur be sure to cover them as protection against frigid nights.
With spring almost in full swing, we hope you take to our tips for a healthy and happy season! Be sure to check out our website for our full line of health supplements to better your wellness in the spring/summer months! Also, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for the most up to date tips and information!

Couples in Love SYNC Up
Recent research has determined that romantic couples in love share the same paced heartbeat. The study used couples who sat across from one another and mirrored the others movements. Each set of partners seemed to present not only similar heartbeats but also breathing patterns. We can only assume that it’s from all those late night cuddle sessions when couples heartbeats sync up.
Sex is a Calorie Burner
So we have all heard the rumors and turns out they are true! For every six minutes, you burn around 21 calories according to the New England Journal of medicine. Plus every minute of your make out session you burn three calories...so go ahead home and stay up all night doing whatever it is you may do.
Men Can’t Handle Housework
For all our all male readers, rejoice and be sure to run home and show this to your honey because guess what? It has been proven through research that men who do non-traditional household chores are having less sex.
Morning Kisses Count
Committed couples that kiss in the morning have been found to be happier and healthier then others. In fact, those who start their mornings every day with a kiss have been proven to live 5 years longer then those who don’t. The reason? Its actually pretty simple…kissing couples start their day with a positive attitude!
Swapping Spit, Less Sick
A recent study found that college students having sex once or twice a week had 30 percent higher levels of immunoglobin, which protects you from the cold and flu.
So next time your significant other tries to get you into the bedroom, consider our health facts and maybe consider it…especially when it may prove beneficial to your health! Tips for Staying Mentally Fit
Our wellbeing is not just based on our physical appearance. So much of our fitness relies on our mental welfare. Our brains are in fact muscles and require regular exercise to be sure it is working at its best capacity. By keeping your brain in top shape you are not only keeping on top of your game but also warding off early signs of Alzheimer’s and slow the progression of the disease.
Exercise
Interestingly enough, physical exercise releases neurotransmitters into your body increasing your general mood. Additionally, a change in your exercise routine carves out new patterns in your brain and helps relieve stress.
Actively Do Puzzles
Board games and puzzles such as crosswords, word searches and logic puzzles all provide mental stimulation to sharpen reasoning and language skills.
Have a New Experience
By learning something new later in life, whether it is a new language or new hobby, you are challenging your brain. By challenging your brain you are strengthening it.
Socialize
By spending time with friends you are promoting your mood. By spending as little as 10 minutes a day can boost your memory and test scores. Quick 10 minute chats are proven to be as successful as spending the same amount of time on a crossword puzzle.
Keep Your Blood Pressure Low
High blood pressure damages your blood vessels, which when damaged enough causes strokes, and thus contributes to mental decline.
Brain Foods
When eating veggies, fruits and fish, brain function is protected by these nutrient and omega-3 rich foods.
Switch Things Up
Similar to having a new experience, if you change your routine it challenges your mind to keep up. Next time you go out for a walk around the block clockwise, turn it into a jog or powerwalk. Little changes still prove stimulating for your brain.
Here at BioLife, we care about your complete wellbeing and hope you will take our suggestions seriously to obtain a better self. Herbal Treatments vs. Western Medicine
Here at BioLife, we believe natural is better and we offer a large line of products designed for a better for a better healthier you! But its not only us who believe natural is healthier, just check out our list of top 5 reasons health supplements are the way to go:
1. Chemical-Free
Health supplements are chemical-free and created from naturally found products as opposed to western medicine that seems to constantly have a medical product recalled every other week.
2. Herbal Basis
Natural medicines are either extracted from or manufactured entirely of plants that host various natural compounds. The effects of these herbal-based supplements are much more gentle and tend to not have extreme side effects unlike western medication.
3. That Extra Boost
Supplements don’t only provide a natural remedy but can be used to give you that extra boost or balance out your well being something you can’t do with a prescription pill.
4. Single Chemical Drug
Western medication is chemically engineered to treat one condition but if prescribed along with other drugs by other doctors the side effects can be detrimental.
5. Natural Supply of Vitamins
Unlike western medicine, vitamins are found naturally in plant-based products and are not chemically altered allowing for a natural supply of vitamins as opposed to the forced mass compilation of vitamins so often found in “multi-vitamins”.
We love health and love you so we want the best for you and your health so check out our website for our full collection of BioLife health and life improvement supplements. Best Fitness Apps Uncovered
Sometimes you have to take your health and fitness outside the world of healthy eating and make it physical! Today it is beyond easy to track and keep up with your fitness and diet routine through phone applications that design your workout for you! We love how easy it has become to stay in shape we no longer have an excuse to avoid the gym. A lot of these apps essentially provide a moving gym, tracking your daily activity and logging it as a calorie-burning workout. With so many options out there, we decided to take it upon ourselves (like we always do, we just love helping!) to find the best of the best fitness apps. So sit back, relax and scroll your way into becoming fit:
Lose it
We love this app because it consolidates your food diary and work out journal into one handy tracker. We really needed this app when we saw the extensive food library including name brand products and that it provides an accurate nutritional fact list for each. Even better then that, the app is free.
Good Food Near You
Okay so this app doesn’t track your fitness, but it can update you on the best healthy food closest to you using a GPS locator. The app targets various types of food establishments to give you a wide range of options for eating, all including the nutritional facts.
IFitness
While it’s gonna set you back $1.99, we just cant help but love it. The app offers 230 exercises sorted by body regions and also includes 100 instructional videos for your viewing pleasure. It also includes preset routines that require nothing but physical effort from you so you can step away from the pricey trainer and do it yourself!
C25K
The app whose full name is Couch to 5k, which we think is appropriate is for those new to the workout world. The app consists of a nine-week jogging regimen designed to help improve your endurance and fitness over time.
MyFitnessPal
We really love this one! It tracks your workout time along with your caloric intake to determine how many calories you are burning a day. Another great feature is you can sync it up with friends to attain your workout goals together.
Hopefully you will find one of these awesome apps fitting to your lifestyle! While you are perusing your smart phone be sure to check out our website for our full line of health supplements.

The Benefits of Vitamin and Natural Supplements
Here at Biolife, we just love a natural supplement…that’s who we are! But if you need more convincing, we compiled a little list to explain the benefits of natural supplements and vitamins.
Our body craves vitamins naturally. We need them to survive. Sometimes though, we don’t easily access the nutrition our body requires naturally, so supplements and vitamins fill in the gaps. Vitamins are essential in helping the body ward off diseases and illness.
Without vitamins, the body can slow down due to vitamin deficiency and in some severe cases shut down. Vitamins add an extra level of insurance to boost the immune system and other vital internal systems.
While vitamins are a great source of health, don’t over do it. Too often people feel that since they are doing wonders for my body I will just double the dosage to get double the effect. However, over-dosage does exist and can cause the consumer to fall ill, counteracting the purpose of the supplement. Please consult every supplement’s dietary guidelines before consumption.
Herbal supplements are different from vitamin supplements because they are not necessarily something your body absolutely needs but they are something your body can absolutely use. The benefits are remarkable! Herbal supplements are best recommended for their natural medicinal qualities providing healing benefits.
The best sources of vitamins are naturally driven supplements because of the unprocessed natural products they are comprised of. For more tips regarding natural supplements and to find supplements for every need check us out Biolife on the web.

Ways To Look Your Best This Year
At the beginning of each year, many of us make a resolution to lose weight and lead a healthier life. Unfortunately, after a few weeks of trying to change our lifestyle, many revert back to their original poor habits and never reach their goal. What most don’t realize is that by making small alterations to your lifestyle, you can achieve your desired weight. By following these simple steps, you will be able to look your best this year.
Drink water and other calorie-free beverages
Sometimes, people confuse being thirsty with having hunger. This means that instead of feeling satisfied after a glass of cold water, people pack on the calories with food. Make sure to stay hydrated throughout the day. You may also want to try adding citrus or brew infused tea, that way you can enjoy the flavor without the calories.
Don’t cut out your favorite food
While many think this is a great way to lose weight, it can actually cause you to overeat since you are not getting what you desire. Instead of cutting your favorite food out, try buying smaller portions so you are not tempted to overindulge.
Have protein in every meal
Diets that are higher in protein, along with regular exercise, have the best potential for weight loss. Protein helps to preserve muscle mass, encourages fat burning, and keeps you feeling full. You receive protein from foods like yogurt, cheese, nuts, and beans.
Limit workouts to 30-40 minutes
Although many believe that spending a lot of time at the gym is beneficial, it actually isn’t. Instead of spending hours at the gym, it is more effective to have a higher intensity work out for a shorter amount of time. That way, you are working out your body without going overboard.
Compound exercises
Instead of isolating your muscles while exercising, you can maximize the time you spend working out by doing exercises that incorporate multiple muscle groups at once. You can get a full-body work out with just a few exercises. Some possible compound exercises include squats, rows, pull-ups, dips, lunges, military presses, bench presses and push-ups.
Pick an exercise that you enjoy
If you aren’t enjoying your workout, you won’t keep up with it for very long. Make sure you pick something that’s fun, whether it is walking, swimming, biking, hiking, running, etc. After you become used to your workout, it will become something you look forward to doing.
Bio Slim
While it is important to eat healthy and keep up with physical activity, another great way to achieve the body you desire is by adding supplements to your daily diet. Bio Slim by Biolife influences weight loss through natural herbs and vitamins as well as with a little work out helps refine muscle tone.
Achieving the body you desire is within reach. By following the above tips and sticking to them, you will be able to look your best! For other healthy tips and to find the best herbal supplements check out Biolife!

Drinking: How To Recover After a Long Night of Partying
After a long night of partying, most of us in the over 21 crowds are often left exhausted and terribly hung-over. Some of the symptoms include dry mouth, dehydration, headache, tiredness, nausea, irritability, weakness, difficult concentrating, sensitivity to light and noise, or anxiety. While it is difficult to make a hangover instantly disappear, the following suggestions can help you cope with this temporary discomfort.
Sleep
One of the best things to do when you have a hangover is stay in bed. Right now, your body needs rest so it can recover. Turn off your phone, close the blinds and sleep it off.
Keep yourself hydrated
Alcohol is a diuretic, meaning it makes you release more urine than the liquid you’re consuming. As a result, you become dehydrated. Because of this, it is important to make up for all of the liquid you lost. Make sure to drink fruit or vegetable juice and above all, drink plenty of water.
Eat something
Even though you may not feel like it, eating will help you feel better after a long night of drinking. Try a bacon sandwich, while it may sound ridiculous the amino acids in the greasy pork helps alleviate hangover symptoms while the bread raises your blood sugar back to a normal rate.
Headache Formula
If you have a headache for a majority of the day after, you may want to try taking The Headache Formula by Biolife. The Headache Formula contains herbs that are used to reduce headaches. You should keep in mind that taking a product for immediate relief can be harmful to your system. If you decide to take The Headache Formula, Aspirin, or Tylenol, you may want to wait and take it hours after you have consumed alcohol to help avoid liver damage.
Liver Detox Formula
After enjoying quite a few drinks it is best to help heal your body and most importantly heal your liver. As the key liquid filter your Liver eliminates toxins and over time excessive drinking can harm this system. Try a teaspoon of Biolife’s Liver Detox to help flush your liver and restore it back to a healthy state.
Hangovers tend to last all day before you are back to full capacity but in the meantime, jump start your day get back on a functioning level test out some of tips! Also be sure to check out our website for additional herbal supplements to help get over that pesky hangover quicker.

Whip up a Meal...or more!
Various culinary schools as well as small bistros offer cooking classes year round and on Valentines Day are offering special dishes featuring aphrodisiac menus and if dinner doesn’t cut it, why not gift her Biolife’s Lady Slipper formula for a great night?
Photo Shoot!
If you are looking to do something a bit sensual that you can share for years to come, why not consider a sexy photo shoot where you play around in some satin sheets and lingerie for a few hours? Many photographers offer Boudoir packages but why not try it out at home with a Polaroid camera and your loved one. After that, why not wind down by massaging each other? Turn out the lights, light some candles and get out the massage oil. While you are there maybe get a few droplets of Duralast to take the night even further!
Pamper the Woman in Your Life!
Let her put her feet up, watch TV and indulge in her favorite foods. For this type of night, consider a gift of Strength of a Woman formula from Biolife, which assists in regulating hormonal imbalances and assists in promoting fertility.
Hopefully this Valentines Day proves to be enjoyable for all our readers. For the items featured in our blog and many more health and well-being products, head to our website.

Relaxation and Rejuvenation Uncovered
During these cold winter months, it is easy to fall into a rut and get caught up in the rush of a new year and new commitments. So often, we forget to take time for ourselves to relax from our daily stresses. Here at Biolife, we want to help you relax and rejuvenate with these simple relaxation methods:
- Mediate. It doesn’t mean you suddenly need to learn downward facing dog, but it does mean take a second to sit down and clear your mind.
- Breathe Deeply. If you don’t have more time but need to relax immediately don’t forget to breath deep. Exhaling, dropping your chest and sighing can provide an instant relief when a million things are coming at you.
- Drink Hot Tea. Instead of coffee consider green tea, the levels of stress hormone, cortisol, are heightened from the black drink. Chamomile tea can be a positive substitute as it is notorious for calming the mind and blocking stress.
- Take a Time Out. When you find your temper building pull yourself back from the situation, not only does this prevent confrontation but it provides you the space to cool off and relax.
- Visualization. As silly as it sounds, often taking a moment to visualize and ideal time and setting can take you away from the stresses you are caught up in and pulls you into a daydream like sequence giving you a break from the anxiety.
So next time you find yourself caught up use one of our tips! Give yourself some time to relax and unwind and why not get a little help from one of our all natural relaxation formulas: Rest Easy, Stress Relief or Lady Slipper.
